A Message from the Athletic Director
While everyone, including Eagle Hill, would prefer their teams to be on the winning side, we consider the best measure of success in the Eagle Hill athletic program to be the high number of students who participate each year. In 2010-2011, for instance, almost 200 students participated on 24 teams (more than 75 percent!). We continue to be committed to our “no-cut policy” in our athletic program, with the exception of the tennis team, which has court and transportation restrictions. We look forward to the 2011-2012 athletic seasons. Once again, the student participation looks quite strong for the fall season, and we certainly anticipate active involvement throughout the year. Some special events are planned for the upcoming year. During the winter season, our two hockey teams will play against the faculty and parents at the Arena at Harbor Yard (home of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers) on Sunday, February 26. As a special highlight, the Eagle Hill choir will be singing the national anthem for the Sound Tigers game that day. The annual alumni basketball and hockey games will occur on Saturday, February 25, and Saturday, March 3 respectively. At the end of each season, student-athletes are honored at sports awards ceremonies. These ceremonies reflect the Eagle Hill philosophy in that each player is recognized for their achievements and contributions. We look forward to another great year in athletics, as our students grow and enjoy themselves on the playing fields. Dave Kates
