Snow Policy

POLICY ON SNOW DAY CLOSINGS, DELAYED OPENINGS,

AND EARLY DISMISSAL DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

SNOW DAY SCHOOL CLOSINGS

Eagle Hill adheres to closing judgments made by the Greenwich Superintendent of Schools, who makes the decision in concert with the Greenwich Police Department.

We use a snow day phone announcement system to inform the school community about school closings as soon as we hear from the Greenwich Superintendent’s office (typically around 6 a.m.). If you do not answer the call, the announcement system will leave you a message. Please be sure to let us know if your phone number changes so we can keep our list as up to date as possible.

We will also list closings on our website at www.eaglehillschool.org as soon as we receive word of closings from the Greenwich School District. In addition, we report school closings to the following TV and radio stations:

STATION AREA SERVED FREQUENCY
WGCH
Fairfield/Westchester
AM 1490
WFAS

AM 1230

You may also call the main number at the school – (203) 622-9240 – after 6:30 a.m. and there will be a recorded message concerning the status of school closings or delays. Since the phone rings in the dormitory building, we ask that you not call before 6:30 a.m.

DELAYED OPENING

Eagle Hill does not have a delayed opening policy since we have students in the dormitory and others coming from multiple districts. Check with your own district regarding when buses will transport children to school.

EARLY DISMISSAL

At times, our local Greenwich schools and/or other individual school districts where you may reside decide to dismiss children early because of deteriorating weather conditions. When this occurs, it is our firm policy not to release children who ride on district-provided transportation until we are sure that there is someone home to meet them. While we apologize for the inconvenience, we will continue to abide by this policy to assure safe arrival of students to a home with a parent or other responsible adult there.

We also ask that if you are picking up a child during an early dismissal, you check in with the child’s advisor or one of the secretaries prior to taking the child off campus, so we may be sure that the child has been picked up by a responsible adult.

Please call us here at the school with any questions. We are confident that this policy will allow us to get better information to you more quickly during inclement weather conditions.
